The Park Avenue Church of Christ in Denison, Texas is searching for a full-time Youth Minister.  The current Youth Minister will transition into a Family Life Minister role in the summer of 2025.  Park Avenue is a growing church with Sunday morning attendance averaging 410, and with an active youth group of 40-50 Middle School and High School students. Ideally, applicants for the role should have a degree in Youth Ministry and a minimum of five years’ experience in youth ministry.  The Park Avenue church is led by six elders, and is blessed with four full-time ministry staff members who help coordinate approximately 30 ministries.  The Denison community anticipates significant growth over the next decade, and the Park Avenue church is well positioned to serve the community.  For additional information, or to apply for the position, please contact George Hatfield, % Park Avenue Church of Christ; 3000 South Park Avenue; Denison, TX 75020, or at georgehatfield46@gmail.com.  Applicants should submit a resume that includes educational background, ministry experience, and personal references.   

Job Description:

The Youth Minister will be responsible for the high school/middle school (grades 7-12) student ministry.  The Youth Minister will ensure the alignment of Youth Ministry objectives with the overall vision of the congregation and Family Ministry.  He will serve as the lead on student’s spiritual development, and student ministry program oversight i.e. curriculum, activities and student involvement and engagement.  The Youth Minister will be responsible for assisting parents in the spiritual development of their children and the implementation of the youth ministry to 7th – 12th grade students.

The Youth Minister must be a dedicated disciple of Jesus Christ with a deep love for the members of the body of Christ.  The Youth Minister must have a passion for working with teens and their families and possess the ability to teach teens from 7th-12th   grades.

Responsibilities:

• Become personally involved in the lives of all students in the youth ministry – outside the classroom.
• Model for teens a pure lifestyle. Be a positive role model and demonstrate for them someone who leads a life above reproach.
• Work alongside Children’s Minister and Family Minister to integrate ideas and strategies for impacting the entire family with the Good News of Jesus Christ. 
• Plan and implement programs that include:

Worship

Model and promote a Romans 12:1 life of worship
Plan and coordinate devotionals and youth worship assemblies
Find ways to use the youth in church assemblies

Outreach

         Model evangelistic spirit

         Structure activities that are targeted for unchurched kids

         Plan fun activities that will encourage friendship evangelism

Fellowship

         Plan activities that bond teenagers together                  

         Create spontaneous times of connection with members of the group

Education

         Develop and purchase curriculum and resources for youth classes

         Select, coordinate, and prepare teachers for youth classes 

Service

         Develop opportunities for students to use their gifts to serve others

Inspire a desire in students to serve on their own, not just at planned service projects 

Strategy

Implement programs that will reach students at all levels of commitment, that will move them to a deeper relationship with Christ and with the church body, and will help them accomplish the mission of the Park Avenue Youth Ministry.

Qualifications

• A college degree is required (preferably in youth ministry, Biblical studies, education or communication.)
• Experience in youth ministry, education, curriculum writing and/or development, program leadership, and communication strategies.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
• Good classroom management skills.
• Good computer skills.
