Lubbock Police Department Internship Program

The Lubbock Police Department offers a comprehensive model internship program to college students interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice or law enforcement, which is one of the many career opportunities offered at the Lubbock Police Department.  The program allows students to shadow various units in the department with a “hands-on” experience. Students are referred to this program through a recommendation from a college professor.     

Job Requirements

  1. Students must be enrolled in a college or University. If enrolled in a Bachelor program, students must be classified as a Junior or a Senior.  If enrolled in an associate’s program, students must have successfully completed 45 credit hours.  Graduate students are also eligible. 
  2. A letter of recommendation from a professor in a field related to criminal justice. 
  3. Must pass a criminal background investigation.
  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale. 
  5. Must sign a commitment to complete a minimum of 125 hours toward the internship.
