Full Time Childrens Minister Lead

Job Summary: The Children’s Minister (Lead) will provide vision, leadership, and spiritual guidance for the overall Children’s Ministry (birth through 5th grade), with a particular emphasis on either Early Childhood or Elementary, depending on strengths. Reports to Missional Life Minister.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for Children’s Ministry at Monterey. Oversee program coordination and volunteer development in collaboration with the Children’s Minister (Associate).
- Take lead responsibility for Sunday and Wednesday programs, curriculum planning, classroom support, and volunteer coordination within assigned age group.
- Prepare teaching materials and coordinate logistics for either Warehouse Worship (Elementary) or Children’s Worship (Early Childhood).
- Ensure effective communication with parents and families in assigned age group, and across all ages.
- Oversee Children’s Ministry budget, planning, and calendar development.
Shared Responsibilities:
- Serve as a public face and advocate for Children’s Ministry within the church body.
- Welcome new families and shepherd their connection process at Monterey.
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with and between children and families.
- Design and organize family events, seasonal programs, and special nights (e.g., Pumpkin Trail, Merge Retreat, Summit Camp) in coordination with Children’s Minister (Associate).
- Coordinate transitional ministries strategically (i.e. Early Childhood to Elementary, and Preteen to Teen) depending on assigned age group
- Maintain safety protocols and check-in systems.
- Attend staff meetings, coordinate with other ministry areas, and support church-wide events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Professional Qualifications:
- College degree and preferred 5+ years of experience in children’s ministry or related field.
- Strong leadership, administrative, and relational skills.
- Passion for early childhood or elementary spiritual development.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers.
- Experience designing or adapting curriculum.
- Collaborative, team-first mindset.
