The Senior Pastor is responsible to the Eldership, and them to our LORD Jesus Christ, for the earnest stewardship of the church of Jesus Christ to which they have been called. Specifically, the Senior Pastor, with advice, consent and full support of the Eldership, shall:
- Lead the church spiritually in these ways which align with our vision to know God, grow in faith and serve others:
- Organize, prepare and deliver effective teaching and preaching which reveals the nature of God as revealed in the Bible.
- Promote outreach, missions, and evangelism consistent with the vision for the church.
- Cause the establishment and realization of a living, compelling, spirit-inspired vision for the fellowship of believers at New Beginnings Church Bay Area which is consistent with Biblical principles and calls every believer to a vibrant and maturing relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Shepherd and minister to members of the church.
- Develop strategies to meet the goals of the church.
- Call, equip, and challenge the fellowship of believers to step out in faith and boldly live into their calling in Jesus Christ, modeling Christ-centered living by effectively exercising gifts and talents and encouraging others to come alongside and shoulder the leadership and administration of the church.
- Organize functioning of the church in order to equip the saints for acts of service by promoting and supporting individual and organized acts of worship, prayer, preaching, teaching, fellowship and service.
- Lead the church fiscally in these ways:
- Plan for, obtain, develop, nurture, manage and otherwise steward the resources of the church as necessary to implement the vision to include staff, real estate, facilities, equipment and finances.
- Prepare an annual budget with input and help from the finance committee which the Sr. Pastor recruits and forms, after review with the elders. Elders will approve the budget.
- Direct the office management of the church in these ways:
- Oversee, organize and execute actions to maintain the facilities operated by the church.
- Identify and acquire services as anticipated in the approved budget.
- Organize and schedule volunteer assistance as needed to clean and maintain the facilities and grounds.
- Other responsibilities as needed to assure operations and compliance with legal requirements.
- Supervise and evaluate staff and their activities.
- Oversee, guide, evaluate, develop, and monitor staff.
- Direct activities of staff.
- Work with the elders to hire, develop and terminate staff.
- Regarding hiring of staff reporting to Sr. Pastor, he will lead the search process and will utilize a search committee which will include one elder, and will make recommendations to the elder group who will make the final decision.
- Develop and support staff by providing clear expectations, giving coaching, providing opportunities for leadership and growth, and regular feedback. He will evaluate staff at least annually, draw conclusions with regards to effectiveness, and recommend action to elders for final decisions regarding reward, correction or termination.
- Oversee, organize and execute actions to maintain the facilities operated by the church.
- Advise and consult with the eldership on a regular basis.
- At least monthly on the status of critical initiatives and progress toward significant goals and objectives for the Church.
- At least annually on budgets and strategic plans, involving key staff and lay leaders in discussions with elders as appropriate.
