The WPC Director of Connections Ministry helps people move from first-time guest to fully engaged member in the mission of Westminster Presbyterian Church. This role leads the charge on teams, systems, and next steps, connecting people to community, purpose, and growth. The Director of Connections Ministry oversees church volunteer systems, guest and member experiences, adult discipleship ministries, outreach opportunities, fellowship and weekend events. The Director of Connections Ministry must be a person of deep faith and integrity who approaches work as a form of worship and embraces the church’s mission to glorify God and serve its people.
The Director of Connections Ministry will work strategically with the Senior Pastor, Deacon Board, and staff in the development of church programs and opportunities that draw others to Christ.
Key Responsibilities:
Assimilation Systems
- Oversee all assimilation systems starting with the Westminster Welcoming Experience of all guests through the follow-up and full engagement of all members into WPC ministry areas.
- Be a people developer, creating clear pathways for people to get involved casting a vision for how serving leads to belonging and believing.
- Continuously recruit, onboard, and equip members across all ministry areas to serve.
- Identify and oversee the needs of a volunteer system anticipating any challenges or needs in the creation of a world-class.
- Partner with other ministry areas in building authentic relationships and ministry opportunities across WPC.
- Collaborate with the Director of Church Operations to create functional, visually appealing, and hospitable spaces
Adult Discipleship
- Champion a culture of discipleship through connections and hospitality that reflects the heart of discipleship.
- Develop and maintain systems to help people discover their spiritual gifts
- Develop, oversee, and grow adult discipleship opportunities that meet the ongoing needs of both young and mature adult populations
- Recruit and identify members to serve in various leadership roles (Sunday School, seminar, weekly bible study) ensuring a variety of opportunities that span the WPC member profile
- Strategically develop and grow Gospel Community groups (small groups) providing structure, support, and training on an ongoing basis modeling the small group method of bible study, service, and fellowship
- Recruit, support, and oversee annual Men’s and Women’s ministry special events
- Innovate and adapt all discipleship programs as the church grows to meet its ongoing needs
Outreach
- Create, facilitate, and lead local outreach campaigns in partnership with the WPC Deacon Board, staff, and key stakeholders.
- Develop and plan programmatic outreach opportunities that create opportunities for interaction and invitation to WPC
- Support the Missions Committee of WPC in local mission efforts
Administrative Duties:
- Monitor and analyze weekly data on attendance, retention, next steps participation, and engagement.
- Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to improve connection and member engagement
- Develop and maintain systems and communication tools that support effective follow up and engagement
- Collaborate and work closely with ministry leaders to ensure alignment and integration of the assimilation process with other church initiatives
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings to keep assimilation goals a priority
- Train and support leaders to own connection ministry in their areas, multiplying impact across teams.
- Celebrate and encourage volunteers regularly, cultivating a strong, mission-minded culture.
- Manage local budgets related to assigned responsibilities provided good stewardship and advanced planning of ministry needs
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required with a minimum of two years of program planning experience
- Proven leader and team builder with high relational skills with strong emphasis in administrating and organizing a church program.
- Strong in systems management, attention to detail, and follow-through
- Gifted communicator and relational connector
- High initiative and passion for equipping others with a passion to help people belong and grow
- Provide detailed execution in the planning and implementation of all duties
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks
- Organized, disciplined with priorities, meticulous attention to detail
