Overview 

The Summerville Church of Christ is seeking a highly relational and motivated Summer Youth Intern to serve in our Lighthouse Student Ministries program. This position is open to both male and female applicants and provides hands-on ministry experience.

Located just 30 minutes from Charleston, SC, Summerville offers a beautiful coastal environment with a strong sense of community. Our church has an active congregation of 300-350 members and a thriving youth group of 35-50 students. The internship runs from the last week of May through the first week of August and is a paid position with lodging provided. 

Responsibilities 

The Summer Youth Intern will play an integral role in fostering spiritual growth and relationships among our students through a variety of activities, service projects, and teachings. Key responsibilities include: 

• Building Relationships: Engage with students in meaningful ways, being inclusive and proactive in fostering a welcoming environment. Spend time with students through planned events, mentoring, and discipleship. 
• Weekly Activities: Assist in planning and leading various youth group events and gatherings. Bible Teaching & Devotionals: Opportunities to teach Bible classes, lead small groups, and facilitate devotionals. 
• Palmetto Bible Camp (PBC): Participate with our students at PBC for a week, mentoring and encouraging them in their faith. 
• Spiritual Leadership: Model Christ-centered living and encourage spiritual growth among students. 

Qualifications 

We are seeking a college-aged individual with a heart for youth ministry, a strong personal faith, and a passion for mentoring and discipleship. Preferred qualifications include: 

• A strong, active faith in Jesus Christ and alignment with the beliefs and practices of the Churches of Christ. 
• Experience working with youth, whether through church, camp, or other ministry settings. 
• A relational and outgoing personality, with a willingness to be inclusive and proactive in engaging students. 
• A desire to teach, mentor, and disciple students in their faith. 
• The ability to work collaboratively with ministers, volunteers, and church leadership. 
• Reliable transportation (a vehicle is preferred but not required).

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience (negotiable)

Job Requirements
