ABOUT PARK AVENUE

Park Avenue Church of Christ is a congregation of the churches of Christ located in Denison, TX, approximately one hour north of Dallas. We currently run one Sunday morning service with an attendance of 400–500. While most of our members call Denison home, we draw from across the Texoma region, reaching into southern Oklahoma — and in many ways see ourselves as a regional church with a reach well beyond our city limits. Denison is a growing city of around 27,000 — up more than 11% since the last census — and the wider Texoma area, including Sherman, is home to more than 150,000 people. The whole region is on an upward trajectory, and the growth shows no signs of slowing down. We are actively positioning ourselves to meet that moment — committed to our mission: “Be a Light” to our community. We are a Spirit-led church that honors our restoration heritage while remaining open to where God leads us. The Worship Minister will join an established ministerial staff of four full-time ministers, including a preaching minister, youth minister, and family minister — a collaborative team committed to serving Park Avenue together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Worship at Park Avenue is a dynamic, Spirit-filled, a cappella experience. We draw from both the rich tradition of classic hymns and contemporary praise and worship, blending the two in a way that honors our heritage while remaining fresh and engaging. We are passionate about leading people into the presence of God through corporate music and creating meaningful worship encounters each week. The Worship Minister will cultivate a culture in which God is honored through every facet of the worship experience—musically, spiritually, and relationally. An established Praise Team of committed, eager singers is already in place, providing a strong foundation to build from and develop further.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Worship Leadership & Planning

• Collaborate with the preaching minister to align weekly music selections with sermon themes and church calendar.
• Plan and lead all weekly worship services, rehearsals, and special events in alignment with the church’s vision and mission.
• Coordinate music for funerals, weddings, and other congregational events.
• Teach new music to the congregation and the Praise Team on an ongoing basis.

Team Building & Development

• Continue to develop and build upon the existing Praise Team, while actively recruiting new singers to strengthen and grow the team over time.
• Build and oversee an A/V Team—trained volunteers who facilitate worship through audio and video technology.
• Develop a Hospitality Team to create a warm, welcoming environment each Sunday through intentional greeting and service.
• Foster a team culture rooted in spiritual formation, collaboration, and excellence.

Digital & Technical Oversight

• Oversee the A/V, media, and communications ministries.
• Monitor the online worship experience and actively seek ways to improve digital engagement and reach.
• Maintain technological proficiency with the systems and tools required to execute high-quality corporate worship gatherings.
• The Worship Minister will be aided with administrative assistance in accomplishing these goals.

Administration & Stewardship

• Oversee the worship ministry budget with wise stewardship of resources related to music, equipment, and other ministry expenses.
• Coordinate regularly with the preaching minister, ministerial staff, and office staff.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the elders and in line with the talents and gifts of the Worship Minister.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Proven competence in leading congregational worship.
• Commitment to and experience leading a cappella, voice-led congregational worship.
• Strong relational skills with the ability to engage and lead a congregation of 400+ in worship.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Technological proficiency with worship presentation software, audio systems, and digital platforms.

Preferred (not required):

• A degree in Biblical Studies and/or Christian Ministry.
• A degree or extensive practical experience in music.
• Prior ministry experience with a congregation of comparable size to Park Avenue.

POSITION DETAILS

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring 40+ hours per week, with a schedule that includes weekday, weeknight, and weekend commitments. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
