Position Overview
Preston Road Church of Christ is seeking a dependable, skilled, and service-minded Property Maintenance Engineer / Facilities Manager to oversee the daily care, operation, and upkeep of our church campus.
Located in the University Park area of Dallas, Preston Road serves a vibrant and active church family. Our campus includes worship, education, office, gymnasium and fellowship spaces that support weekly services and a wide variety of ministry activities throughout the week.
This role plays a vital part in ensuring our facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for members, guests, and ministry staff. The individual in this position will work closely with church leadership, staff, and vendors to maintain the campus and support the many programs and events that take place throughout the year.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee daily building operations, maintenance, and facility needs across the church campus.
- Perform routine inspections, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance of building systems and equipment.
- Coordinate and supervise third-party vendors, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevator, roofing, landscaping, and security providers.
- Prepare facilities for worship services, ministry programs, meetings, and special events, including room setup and furniture arrangement as needed.
- Respond promptly and professionally to facility issues or emergencies.
Safety and Security
Safety and security of the church campus are paramount. The Facilities Manager must remain attentive to building safety, emergency readiness, and risk prevention. This role requires close coordination with associate ministers and church staff to ensure safe and secure operations during all church activities and events.
Financial Coordination and Vendor Oversight
- Work closely with the church’s Financial Officer regarding facility repairs, vendor services, and maintenance expenses, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Assist in the planning and stewardship of the facilities maintenance budget.
- Participate in evaluating and managing service contracts, including electrical, HVAC, and landscape services.
- Review and approve vendor invoices related to facility operations.
Facilities and Operations Management
- Supervise the janitorial team and maintain consistent campus cleanliness standards.
- Interface with the EMS building management system to monitor temperatures and operate HVAC equipment.
- Maintain and update preventive maintenance schedules for major building systems.
- Ensure compliance with local safety regulations, fire codes, and inspection requirements.
- Maintain organized records of maintenance activities, equipment documentation, warranties, and service contracts.
- Oversee grounds and exterior campus appearance, including landscaping, irrigation, and parking areas.
- Assist with the care and light maintenance of three to four parishioner residences connected to church leadership.
- Establish daily work priorities based on facility needs and ministry schedules.
Because facility systems and ministry needs do not always occur during traditional work hours, the Facilities Manager must maintain a flexible schedule. Vendors often begin work as early as 7:00 AM, and occasional evening or event support may be required.

Job Requirements
Position Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Must reside within 10–15 minutes of University Park, due to facility response needs.
- Regular on-site schedule Sunday through Friday (Saturday off).
- Must be available for special programs, ministry events, funerals, senior adult activities, youth events, and occasional evening needs, including room setup and furniture movement as required.
- years of hands-on building maintenance experience, including:
- Basic electrical
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
- HVAC troubleshooting (in coordination with vendors)
- Preventive maintenance
- Vendor coordination and oversight
- Must be trustworthy, dependable, and comfortable working within a church environment.
