Summary of the Position: We seek a full-time minister to work alongside Church members while
sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Las Cruces and beyond. Our hope is to accomplish this task
through teaching, preaching and weekly worship but most importantly by “being Jesus” to those living
in the nearby communities. Our members here at the Las Cruces Church take scripture seriously and
would expect a prospective minister to be thoroughly equipped to engage with God’s Word to help
facilitate our collective efforts to know God and his will for our lives. We view each gathering as yet
another opportunity to better prepare ourselves to serve God and promote his kingdom while each one
of us interacts with the greater community.

About the Church in Las Cruces: We are a community of believers committed to the Gospel of Jesus
and all its implications for our lives as we engage with our neighbors from surrounding communities.
We regard our neighbors as important because God continually shapes us to love first. We see
ourselves as part of a larger kingdom inclusive of believers from around the world who acknowledge
Jesus as Lord and King. In addition to meeting for prayer, study and worship at a formal building on
Valley Drive, we also meet in small groups to promote greater involvement in each other’s lives and
provide a welcoming space for guests to explore what God has in store for them.

Key Attributes of the Prospective Minister:
• Compelled by God’s Word to explore scripture and unpack its message for others.
• Enjoys engaging with people, and has a heart for those who are lost and struggling.
• A good listener, able to convey to others that they are valued.
• Considers the Las Cruces Church as an extended family for all members.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Preach a Bible-based lesson on Sundays, with occasional member support.
• Assist with the development of curricula for Sunday morning Bible classes.
• Plan to teach an adult or youth class on Sundays, with occasional member support.
• Encourage fellowship through group activities, and study within our small groups.
• Visit our various small groups on a regular basis, looking for areas of improvement.
• Be available for one-on-one study with members and our community neighbors.

Preferred Qualifications Include:
• A college degree (or equivalent) and at least five years of ministerial experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills – able to listen and offer spiritual insight.
• An ability to facilitate outreach in ways that are natural and comfortable to those new to the
Christian faith – live in our community so that others are drawn to you because of Christ.
• Experience with teaching others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• Able to innovate and explore ways to embrace people coming from diverse backgrounds.
• Bilingual ability would be an added benefit, given that Las Cruces is ~60% hispanic.
